Lara Kantor is the chairperson of the Digital Dzonga Council.  She graduated with a first in Drama and Film at Wits University and since then has worked in various senior positions in the broadcasting industry. She headed up broadcasting policy at the Independent Broadcasting Authority where she played a key role in the licensing of the first free-to-air television broadcaster and was Executive Director of the National Association of Broadcasters until 2002.

Lara then joined the SABC as General Manager of Digital Policy of the country’s national public broadcaster. In 2006 she was appointed one of the co-chairs of the Digital Broadcasting Migration Working Group and was in 2007 appointed by the Minister of Communications to chair the country’s Digital Migration Office, known as the Digital Dzonga.
